Background info
Neil Bennett, supported by One Fylde’s Homecare, recently achieved an impressive feat by completing a 60-mile bike ride from Manchester to Blackpool with his nephew. An avid cyclist, Neil is passionate about fitness and frequently enjoys rides around his local area. His regular cycling ventures even include trips to Fleetwood and back for his lunch.
The Route
The journey begins at Manchester’s renowned Media City, then heads west through Atherton, reaching the first checkpoint at Howebridge Sports Centre. Here, cyclists can refresh and attend to any bicycle repairs. The route then proceeds north to Haigh Hall, followed by Charnock Richard Bowling Green. Dunkirk Hall in Leyland is the next landmark as the ride advances towards Preston, skirting the River Ribble estuary. Nearing the end, riders reach the Clifton Arms pub in Warton, the final checkpoint before the coastal path leads them around the southern Fylde Coast, culminating at the South Promenade in Blackpool.
