Day One
“On my first day, I attended induction where I learned about One Fylde and the different roles that allow them to support adults with learning disabilities and autism. This helped me to gain an understanding of the jobs available in a business.”
Day Two
“On my second day, I spent time in reception with Lauren and Theo as they greeted visitors and managed phone calls. Then I matched credit card receipts in admin with Rosie. In the afternoon, I spent time with HR and learned about skills needed for a potential candidate and the One Fylde Values. I also watched the recruitment team evaluate applicants and listened to their phone calls where they asked potential candidates questions, including their availability for work. Lastly, I then went to finance and sat with Michelle who explained what her role was, and I entered payments onto the system.”
Day Three
“On my last day, I spent time with Jayne in IT and she explained her role and helped me to create my own Outlook account. I spent the rest of the morning visiting 3 houses with Sophie evaluating the safety and quality of the houses and I enjoyed completing reports with the iPad! It was interesting to see how different people were supported. Finally, I visited the recycling centre with Dawn where I met people One Fylde support.”
“Overall, I think my work experience at One Fylde was much more valuable and interesting than work experience at somewhere like a café. I got to meet so many people and develop social skills that could be applicable in a future job.”
